Architectural photography for Tourneau at the Rolex boutique

Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of photographing so many beautifully designed and crafted interiors…and, the level of attention to detail and craftsmanship in finishes of Tourneau’s new Rolex Boutique in San Francisco was outstanding! An elegant context in which those gorgeous watches feel right at home.

Managing reflections is a big technical challenge of retail architectural photography. Our workflow for a shoot like this is tech heavy: state of the art cameras and lenses, client reviewing images in real time on an iPad, wireless and battery powered strobes, radios, etc. In spite of all that technology, the best way to manage reflections is to physically block the light that’s creating the reflection…usually by holding a piece of black fabric up in just the right spot. I love when simple solutions are the best solutions!
